Early Childhood (Grades 4-5) Endorsement
Program Description
UThink is an online learning system offered in partnership with Heidelberg University for affordable graduate coursework leading to an Early Childhood (Grades 4-5) Generalist Endorsement.
The Early Childhood (Grades 4–5) Generalist Endorsement allows teachers who hold a current, valid Ohio Early Childhood Education (PreK–Grade 3) license to meet additional requirements so that they can teach all core subject areas in grades four and five. The program consists of three online classes which include all required field experiences. Coursework meets state and professional standards.
Program Requirements
Once coursework is completed, candidates must also pass the Ohio Assessment for Educators Elementary Education Test (Subtest I 018) and (Subtest II 019).
Program Prerequisites
Candidates must have a current, valid Ohio Early Childhood Education (PreK-Grade 3) license prior to taking the Early Childhood (Grades 4-5) endorsement classes.

- Middle Childhood Student Transitions and the Teaching Profession – EDGE 551
- Middle Level Social Studies/ELA Content, Pedagogy & Assessment – EDGE552
- Middle Level Math/Science Content, Pedagogy & Assessment – EDGE553
If you wish to complete coursework in one semester, register for EDGE551 and EDGE552 in Term 1 and register for EDGE553 in Term 2.
